Job Description:

Overview: Studio Matson, Inc. is a graphic design and production firm based in Portland, Oregon. We work with well-known companies and organizations, specializing in brand production and design execution. The project manager role will focus on both client relations and creative project management. The candidate will become an integral part of our operations, and enjoy the opportunity to participate in many aspects of running a design studio. The position reports to the Director of Operations. 

  • Full-time, remote
  • Open to applicants from other states and time zones
Primary responsibilities:
  • Become a regular point of contact for existing clients 
  • Field new project requests; gather all information to get projects ready for design and production
  • Track overall workload in the studio: ensure we’re hitting deadlines; host regular meetings; update project details in project management software
  • Manage individual design projects, including coordinating the creative team, partnering with the Studio Manager, creating schedules, and liaising with clients  
  • Develop estimates and track project budgets
  • Support our transition to a new project management system
  • Communicate regularly with freelance designers and production partners about project scopes, timing, and deliverables
Knowledge and skills:
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a professional manner, both written and verbally
  • Ability to understand client needs and effectively translate them into estimates
  • Basic knowledge of print and digital production processes
  • Ability to problem-solve; think through issues independently, and offer solutions
  • Collaborative, independent, self-starter
Work experience:
  • Three to five years of experience as a project manager in the creative services industry
Salary and benefits:
  • $50k to $60k per year, commensurate with experience
